The free music scenario

From day one, we decided that the physical published music from us should be free. Here's a mish mash of words and sentances attempting to describe how and why we could imagine it being the best thing ever.

Generally, we are intrigued by the fact that no one could claim ownership of our music thru purchase. At the same time in love with the idea that we could try and aim around those who wouldn't like us (which a vinyl and a long band name would have no problems doing by itself). That, along a limited run of records seems to be the best way to go, trying to reach as many relevant people as possible.

Also it feels great to be able to give something away, enabling others to do the same, by hopefully convincing them to pass on our music, in physical form instead of just sharing a thought, some words or a torrent link (even though we like those too). Free digital copies are nice, easy and all, but getting free vinyl....

In the end it also comes down to awareness and control of what we want in the end. We're not a business, our music isn't a commercial product, and we definently have no needs to try overdo or complicate things with models and methods imitating music industry behaviour. We wanna do things our way only, without the paperwork, excluding most middlemen and some reviewers (most don't even review vinyl and only review to sell). So..... our ways to your home, is dependent solely on us and you. That way we wouldn't have to work our asses of getting too many relevant windows to sell from and you don't have to encounter overanxious clerks, telling you that we're sooo mathrock (when we're not), trying to get you to cough up that 20$.

Skipping the high road, the small talk.... Again, we're a simple band really, with simple ideals. We want someone to listen to our music. Giving the complete package away for free, is the easiest and most effective way for us to reach that goal.

In other words, we're super excited about giving our album away. And despite the excitement, there will be plenty tricks to map out in order to get it all done just right. Will tell you all about the nasty "how to", them pre orders details and stuff like that.... any day now.

In the meantime. We wait.

A beginning...

As a tiny band (two people talking alot of shit), with no lyrics attached to our practice, we needed to find alternative ways of getting the messages out. This blog, has been a long time coming, unsure at first how we would wanna do things when it came to talking about our album and ourselves. But, in general, us being only 2 people, us being fairly simplistic in our ways. This will be our shit, our talks and our blog. Simply- The Conquering Light Of Flora And Fauna.

To start from scratch. We're a 2 piece instrumental duo (guitars and drums mainly) from Aarhus/Copenhagen. Our band starting officially in 2008, being the outcome/consequence of former common interests and various musical projects. Our goal with The Conquering Light... from the very beginning was actually quite simple. We wanted something honest, energetic, authentic and straight to the point, without too much ado. Serious, but loose, friendly and most of all realistic accordingly to who we are and what we do.

Between the 2 of us, there's alot of talk, about dreams and ideas. Hardly all get's realized instantly, yet we talk about them constantly. This blog, was created solely to vent those reasons or atleast explain the absence, succes and failure of them. Another reason for this blog, is that we get to point out in detail who did what and why. We get to thank and ramble about the methods and the people who help us make everything just the way we want it.

In short: Alloooot of stuff to talk about (apparently), and we're not the most tidiest of people. So before we get ahead of ourselves, this is merely our first attempt of saying something about us and "this". Perhaps a tiny hello is in order. Hope you stick around.
